St. Pauli meets Piemont, Italy. 🇮🇹

Last week, our Culture Night was all about Italy – and it was truly something special …

Mattia, originally from Italy, joined freiheit.com two years ago right after university to build a new life in Germany.
Since then, he hasn’t just grown into a great software engineer, he has also become a wonderful member of our community. And last week, he wanted to give something back.

So he did not only create an Italian Culture Night.
He created an entire Italian week.

He even invited his parents all the way from Piemont – to Hamburg, into our office. Together, they held cooking classes throughout the week and joined us for the Culture Night itself.

So for four evenings our kitchen transformed into an Italian Cookery.
Where stories were shared. And recipes and traditions were passed down – not only within a family, but to our members helping prepare the dishes.

This shows that we are relentless but loving in everything we do – not just in software engineering but also when we come together as a community.

Seeing Mattia and his family create these special events and spark joy in everyone who took part was so heartwarming.

On Friday, we then celebrated Italian Culture Night – with all of the home-made food, laughter, great conversations, dancing and a whole lot of joy about being part of this community.
