Thank You for 23 Years of Bookzilla

In the early 2000s, Libri set out to help independent brick-and-mortar bookshops get online, and we built the whitelabel platform to make that vision a reality. As a thank-you, Libri gave us an instance of our own. We named it Bookzilla and turned it into an experiment: what if buying everyday books could quietly fund digital freedom?

For 23 years, that simple idea worked. Every book ordered through Bookzilla generated a margin that went directly to the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE).

Together, we raised more than €60,000 for free software and digital rights.

Why We Are Closing:

For over two decades, Libri generously provided the infrastructure for Bookzilla at zero cost.

Over time, technical and business landscapes naturally evolve, and this special setup was, sadly, no longer sustainable. Since operating under regular commercial conditions would have swallowed the margins meant for charity, we and Libri decided together that it was time to wind the project down.

We want to extend our sincere thanks to Libri for 23 years of steadfast support and goodwill.

Without their sustained backing, this community project would never have achieved what it did.

Keep Supporting the Mission:

Bookzilla may be winding down, but the work of protecting digital freedom continues. If you bought books with us over the years, thank you, you made this project an undeniable success.
